Uh, OK...

This ad is so corny, it's not even offensive.

If Obama has achieved a level of mainstream validation to this effect -- where he's used in advertising -- I guess that's pretty cool for his campaign. Still, a part of me is not a fan of the idea of being associated with selling used cars. I'm just saying.

Dang. At least it could've been for a Mercedes. A flippin' Kia?! Does anybody even buy Kias?

Anonymous said...

I mean, outside of Korea anyway...

Wow! Using Obama to sell cars. What will they think of next?

*Shaking my head*

@ Cyn: I know a lot of people who drive Kias. Let's see. There's...uh...and there's...um...and then there's...uh...

Fine. You've made your point.

@ Megan: I wouldn't be suprised if they pulled the old Ford ad with Malcolm X: "Buy a Ford by any means necessary." Don't forget about MLK's "I may not make it to the mountaintop, but I will make it down to Applegate Cheverolet to get the new Impala with 0% financing for the first six months" ad.

Sheesh.

I've seen some pretty bad commercials from car dealers, but this one sets the bar. Lord...

If they can only come out with a commerical with a McCain impersonator showing us why people over 65 should not be behind the wheel, we should be all set.

Andre said...

@ Anonymous: That's pretty low, dawg; even by my standards. Still, I like it. *Evil grin*

Does anybody know who the Obama impersonator is? He actually looks sort of like him.

Joanne, the guy's name is Ron Butler. I saw him on Jimmy Kimmell once. I honestly didn't think he was that funny. This was almost as bad as SNL's attempt to impersonate Obama. They all need some work.

Stuff like this serious undermines Obama's presidency. He's become a joke. Hillary would've NEVER approved of this.

For one, this isn't a national ad; it's local. So in all likelihood, Sen. Obama doesn't even know about this. Secondly, if he DID know about it and consented, that doesn't make him a "joke" and it certainly doesn't undermine his campaign. Politicians make fun of themselves all the time. That's what makes them more personable. In fact, even your girl has parodied herself (SNL and the Sopranos spoof immediately come to mind). If you want a bland and boring person running the country, support me or Joe Lieberman.
