"Why I'm starting to dislike Black Men"

Hee-Hee!

I LOOOVE sterotypes!

P.S. You suck, you know why :)

I'm lost on everything you said...

One day I'll get the rationale behind having a eight/nine year old who doesn't have a mortgage preaching to me about what to do when "all the money is gone".

Andre said...

Thank you, Cyn. My point exactly. Yet, the congregation seemed to eating it up because of all the hootin' and hollerin' a kid could do.

I'm speechless.

Unfortunately, Andre, it is the same thing in white churches, but with a different face and style.

Andre said...

Really. I would've never gathered that. I thought that silly and ignorant subscriptions to so-called "religious" sensationalism like this was limited to the black church. I'm glad that I'm wrong for once.

Still doesn't make me dislike black churches any less...

That was my whole point, Andre. If you go to the link that I posted, you'll see a sterotypical picture of an older Black man. The title of your post was sterotypical of Black churches, which is just as unfair as the sterotypes on Black men. Thanks for the honesty, Will.

You suck because (in best Jerome voice):

"What's wrong.....you can't call nobody!"

Hey Dre,
I must be the weird one in this group (not the first time), I thought the kid was cute. I guess I just didn't take what he was doing all that seriously. But I do get your point, I think; too much show, not enough substance?

Andre said...

I would've been a little more amused if I knew it was fake; like a play or some show. But this clip was taken from an actual service. This just proves to me that black folks (as a generalization...so as to not stereotype. Happy now, Jos?) are attracted to silly, inane, and hyped stuff rather than substance.

Andre said...

Josh-lyn, a generalization is a blanket statement, while a stereotypes are based on a presumption of specificity. Stereotypes tack on a SPECIFIC attribute to a SPECIFIC group.

Like saying that [ALL] black women think they're no-it-alls. I'm being sarcastic too. *Keep the guns in your pocket. I know how violent black people get (another sarcastic remark).

Sounds like another excuse to not go to church. Have you been to every black church in the country? This just seems like an isolated case. On one hand, I see your point about the child preaching thing, but on the other, I don't think you can subject this situation to all black churches. I know WE don't have 10 year old preachers at the Greater :)

Stop the madness and go to church!!!!

Sigh! Silly Andre,

I agree with your breakdown of stereotypes versus generalizations, but you're wrong about the whole black church thing. Get over it. Big head.

Sorry....I got carried away :(

Ummm. Cynthia is lost. This must be some inside thing.

Thanks a lot, Mrs. Joshlyn Yarber

If Cynthia is lost, then KC is definitely lost.

Yo dawg, you make a bad blog admininstrator. You don't do a good job of keeping things on track. LMAO!

Okay Cynthia and KC, let me explain:

When "Kel" made a post saying: " I know WE don't have 10 year old preachers at the Greater :)" that rang a bell with me. A few of the members of my church call our church "The Greater".. The thing is, is that I couldn't think of ANYONE with the name/nickname "Kel" at our church. So I email Andre, and he reveals the TRUE identity of Kel, who just happens to be my best friend (How silly do I feel at this point) Apparently, "Kel" was an inside joke between the two of them at one point.

Sorry about the confusion guys, but you're all caught up now. Any more questions?

:)

P.S. I forgot to add that Andrea (AKA "KEL") calls me Joshlyn because there was this man that used to go to our church who simply COULD NOT pronounce my name, and pronounced it as "JoSHlyn", instead of "Joslyn".....and my last name isn't Yarber....yet.

:)
