Great music

I just copped a couple of great CDs that I wanted to share with you. In an empty and vacuous industry full of oversexualitzed women, materialisitc and chauvanistic hip hoppers, whiny boy bands, and noisy rockers, it's always refreshing to know that some artists haven't lost touch with music...

First, there's Sean Dietrich. I was actually introduced to Sean right here on my blog. In one of my posts, he left a comment which redirected me to his website. Check it out here.

When I first heard his album, I was absolutely rocked. Sean's music is a clear reflection of his love and tribute for God. What's also great about his work is that he is allowing free downloads on his debut album, Nothing Special. For those without downloading capability, he's also offering to send his CD for free! This gifted artist has blessed me with his work. I'm sure that you'll find that same blessing. Thanks Sean!

Next on the playlist, we've got Corinne Bailey Rae. My apologies any ladies interested in me (all negative 12 of you...), but this woman has stolen my heart (well, she and Joann Rosario). I didn't believe in love at first sight until I saw her...

I first saw her on the Tavis Smiley show and then again on the Tonight Show. Not only is she righteous as all outdoors (especially with her spiritual outlook), but she's also incredibly talented. Her sultry, neo-soulistic sound has a little Bill Withers combined with some Jill Scott; with a touch of Alicia Keys on the side. But, above all, she simply exudes positive energy with her voice. I'm in love...

If you've got a couple of extra bucks in your pocket, I think you should add these guys to your music selection. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

Yo! Even if we have to fight until the death, I won't give up MY Corinne so easily....

She's MINE!

Alicia Keys just E-Mailed me, she's shocked she been thrown to the side just when she was getting up the nerve to leave a comment.

@ KC: Choose your weapon, dawg. Choose your weapon.

@ HC: What can I say my friend? She was a little late coming around. Besides that, if I would've would up being with Alicia, I would've divorced her for Corinne anyway...

Andre, I absolutely love Corinne!! She has that jazzy-Norah Jones-Diana Krall-type feel to her sound. I really love my cd! You can go ahead and marry her, just make sure she keeps making cds :)

@ Monique: I completely agree with you. Now that I think about it, Norah Jones is EXACTLY who comes to mind. They have strikingly similar (and equally as powerful) vibes. Though I normally don't really like celebrities all that much (especially entertainers), I've got a unusual love and appreciation for her work.

Thanks, by the way, for giving me the OK to go after her. But with her being married already, that'll be a little difficult for me. But, I could pull the old "hire a stripper to seduce the husband so that Corinne will find them together and divorce him" thing. If you don't think that'll work, I'm open to other suggestions...

LOL! Classic!

But, I see where you're going. Corinne IS pretty hot! And, I'm a white guy!

I also really enjoyed Sean's CD; as well as Joanne's. How do you find out about these terrific artists?

I feel like I'm going to get a ten page dissertation about this, but here goes anyway.....What's your beef with celebs?

Did something happen in your childhood, Andre :)

Just to avoid the "ten page dissertation" (although ten pages wouldn't even cover my undergraduate thesis. But, I digress...), I'll give you the Reader's Digest answer:

Most of my angst comes from the legion of mindless drones who foolishly obsessed with EVERYTHING celebs do. Who's marrying whom; who broke up; who wore what to which award show, etc... With all the significant things happening in the world (or, hello...this country) people waste their time following ignorant nonsense.

I'm annoyed by [most] celebs because they live in some bubble; completely losing touch with everybody ELSE'S reality and with the people that made them who they are.

For the sake of keeping it short, I'll leave it at that. :)
