More political "WTFs"

As passionate as I am about understanding politics and as much as I love the ladies, I can't put into words just how @#$*ing weird this is. Maybe somebody can figure this out for me.

I guess this girl is trying to help Obama rise in the polls while she also raises our poles.

Tsk TSk TSk ,
we now know what you do in your office all day , Tsk Tsk Tsk .
People will use any gimick to sell , shameless.!

Andre said...

@ KC: You need prayer, dawg.

@ Liza: LOL!

I'm not sure what this girl is trying to accomplish; especially given what type of no-nonsense wife Obama has. Even though this girl clearly is NO Monica Lewinski, Mrs. Obama is no Hillary Clinton. You won't have any of that type of adultery going on in the White House under her watch...

I hope she doesn't give up her day job of being a call girl stipper.

On a serious note, she really does have a good voice. I hope one day she realizes that she doesn't have to whore it up to be successful(ie Beyonce, Christina). Wait a minute, yes she does.

Andre said...

Kim, you gotta admit: this is the first time anybody's every used their sexual prowess to make a political push.

Oh, wait. Never mind.

Anonymous said...

It should be pretty clear that this girl is being used by the GOP as a smear tactic against Obama. How quick we forget that they used the same antics against Harold Ford Jr with the white Playmate. Using hussies like this will only make Obama less attractive for the Democrats and Hillary more attractive; and we all know that Hillary can't beat the Republicans. Obama is the best bet to win and this is an attempt to discredit him by associating him with some trashy girl.

Anonymous said...

You see. THIS is why I vote Republican.

Anonymous said...

Alright, alright. Y'all got me. I was just messin' around with the poll/pole joke. But seriously, I've seen this story being covered on a couple of news outlets. How can the country take Barack Obama seriously if he gets illegitimized by some BET dancer? Cyn, you might be on to something.

Anonymous said...

Andre,

"this is the first time anybody's every used their sexual prowess to make a political push."

What type of "push" are referring to? Does she even know what he stands for? Does she follow his poltics? From the sound of it, she just has some silly childhood crush on a married man. This is definitely setting the women's movement back a few decades.

Andre said...

@ Cyn (and KC): One, Harold Ford didn't lose because of the racist smear the GOP tossed out there. He lost because he's a Blue Dog Democrat (a wannabe Republican) and lost his base. Secondly, Hillary still has more momentum than Barack with Democrats; even with a segment of black voters. Interestingly, I think she'll be able to ride Bill Clinton's coat tail more than Barack could rely on his race.

Still, you DO have to question the timing of this 'campaign'. I'll give you that much.

@ Don't mean to say: I'm sorry; I missed it. Why exactly do you vote GOP? Do you like subjecting the whole country to "traditional family values" while secretly being dirty and corrupt and supporting a president who likes to make up his own words? Just wondering.

@ GA: I was being sarcastic about this girl making a political statement. Maybe I should've been a little more convincing. :)

Truthfully, I think this video has less to do with trying to smear Senator Obama than it has to do with some performer trying to earn her 15 minutes of fame. Like Kim brilliantly pointed out, many girls today are trying to rely on their sexuality to sell themselves and it is VERY marketable. Why she chose Senator Obama and not the music industry is a mystery.

Anonymous said...

Saved: "Why she chose Senator Obama and not the music industry is a mystery."

That's my point. She's much prettier than Christina Augilera, can sing infinitely better than Brittney Spears, and can dance better (if you consider skimpy as being 'better') than Beyonce. She could indeed make it in the music biz. So WHY is she doing this with Obama and during his campaign for president no less?

Anonymous said...

Everybody just needs to relax and tone it down with all of the liberal conspiracy theories. The internet is starting to become more widely used to distribute information and to make campaign efforts. Even Sen. Obama used Youtube, Monday Night Football, and other wide reaching broadcasts to push his agenda. If this was a smear tactic, it would be far more obvious than what people are thinking.

Anonymous said...

Besides that, nobody seems to complain when videos, TV shows, and cartoons are used to smear President Bush. You all need to stop it with all this noise.

Anonymous said...

It could be worse I suppose. Obama could've had Puffy campaigning for him.

The H.C. said...

She wanted to get noticed. And now she is. A brillant move from where I'm sitting. This won't negatively affect Obama at all, if anything, it'll make him more attactive to women. Nothing works better at getting women to notice you than other women noticing you. Maybe Sen. Obama should send her a "thank-you" note.

Anonymous said...

Sorry guys, I don't think it's a smear tatic!

I think it's simply a girl trying to get noticed. I don't know if people have noticed, but election time is prime time for comedians (think of Saturday night live)

YouTube has been HUGE lately. Normal everyday people have become overnight 5-minute celebrities because of YouTube. This girl simply used the same tactic.

Like anonymous says: How many times have we seen skits about every kind of politician out there?

Anonymous said...

P.S. I can't believe that I just "sort of" agreed with anonymous......but I still won't vote republican!!!

:)

Andre said...

@ Saved: This video is posted several times on youtube. One of the postings had over 1 million hits. Forget 15 minutes of fame. She's gotten more like a half hour's worth.

@ Cyn: I'm all for a good conspiracy theory, but I don't think this is a smear campaign. If it is, it won't be an effective one. At worst, this video will only turn off any moderates who would likely vote Republican anyway.

@ Anonymous: *Gulp* Good point.

@ J. Alex: I can just see it now: Puffy pushing his "Ba-rock the Vote" campaign.

*crickets chirping*

@ HC: I'm curious to see how well this chick sexualizing Sen. Obama will bode with his wife. I mean, this lady doesn't seem to mess around.

@ Jos: I agree w/you. Election time is when the nation's eyes are on a select group of people. What better way to throw your own name out there than to get it mixed up with those who are already being closely watched?

By the way, just because we have an occasional agreement with a Republican doesn't make us one. So you can put down that Romney/Gulliani '08 sign.

If this is just a strategic move to get fame, why use the political arena to do it? Why use an outlet that is sure to alienate at least half of the country? Newsflash: teeny boppers and horny boys who support young, female entertainers are NOT exclusively Democrats. You would think that if she was just trying to make her mark, she wouldn't use this route. Especially when, as I said, she can be as successful as some of the other girl acts out there.

Andre said...

Hmmmm. Good point, Cyn.

Anonymous said...

Sorry,

Still can't believe it....

heiresschild said...

WOW!!! i never cease to be amazed by what people will do!

Whether or not you accept my idea, all I'm saying is that you've never seen any other entertainers try to boost their career on a campaign trail. Most celebrities (and especially the wannabes) shy away from controversies like politics so they don't take the backlash.

Andre said...

"Most celebrities (and especially the wannabes) shy away from controversies like politics so they don't take the backlash."

Cyn, I think this is where you and I are in disagreement. Celebs endorse particular candidates all the time. I don't think they are so wrapped up in their careers that they chose to abstain from getting involved in political and social causes; even at the expense of losing a few fans.

When it's all over and done with, they'll still have a job and tons of money. Maybe a few less fans, but nothing to hurt them drastically.

Anonymous said...

Dre, you just proved my point. The celebs that you're referring to who get involved with politial and social matters are people who have already validated themselves in the industry. So their political affiliations don't matter to their fans, producers, or anybody else who helps to launch that career. For instance, Brittney Spears came out and openly supported President Bush and said that he "knows what's best for this country". I can bet that her liberal fans didn't stop supporting her after that. The head-shaving thing is more likely to be the explanation for her declining support. :-P

Alright. That's a bad joke. But my point remains.

Anonymous said...

Sorry guys, this is just another chick trying to boost her career. There have been too many people dicovered off of youtube. Carson Daly discovered someone, and shows like "best week ever" feature youtube clips every single week. The weirder and more extreme your clip is, the more likely you're able to be seen. There are even several websites dedicated to showing a person how to be a youtube star.

I can think of SEVERAL "MADTV and "Saturday Night Live" clips that have been shown that make fun of politicians of every single party. Matter of fact, SNL's Darrell Hammond has a HILARIOUS impersentaion of Clinton, while Will Ferrell had a HIARIOUS impersonation of Bush. Just this past Sat., they were making fun of the Whig party!!

Sorry, this is just another chick trying to make a name for herself.

heiresschild said...

by the way, what is a "WTF?"

Andre said...

No, no, no Jos. Don't believe the tricks of the enemy. WTF = "What the fudge."

Andre said...

@ Heirress: WTF is shorthand computer lingo to say "What the f***?"; usually with a shocking or disappointing tone. Examples include: "George Bush won a second term? WTF?!" or The Simpsons are coming out with a movie? WTF?" or "$3.09 for a gallon of regular, unleaded gas?! WTF?!"

Cleaner and less-heathen variations of this term are "What the freak" and "What the fudge".

Anonymous said...

Joslyn, the examples you gave are related to comedians not to any other type of entertainer. When's the last time you heard an R & B, Pop, or Hip Hop singer come out with a debut album endorsing a Presidential candidate?

If you're right and she's simply trying to get attention to the point where she'll be rich and famous, where will she get it? At the Democratic National Convention?

Anonymous said...

At first I thought that maybe this was some ploy to get her 15 minutes of fame (which has apparently worked beyond all leaps and bounds). But Cynthia raises some great points. People in the music industry don't try to make their mark by pulling these stunts. Her doing this says one of two things...1, she's committing music industry suicide by genuinually trying to "make it" as 'Obama girl' or 2, there's some nefarious and underhanded political influences being made (most likely by the right; just like how they attached Rep. Ford of Tennessee).

I tell you what: if I see a boy band coming out with a song talking about how much they love Hillary...

Anonymous said...

Do you people REALLY believe that Republicans are involved with this silly girl? I guess that when the GOP takes office next year, you'll blame it on her. Never mind the reality that she's powerless to do anything about immigration, terrorism, taxes, or health care. Gimme a break!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe that this one got this many posts....lol

Andre said...

@ Cyn: "Joslyn, the examples you gave are related to comedians not to any other type of entertainer. When's the last time you heard an R & B, Pop, or Hip Hop singer come out with a debut album endorsing a Presidential candidate?"

Hmmm. Another good point, Cyn. I can't recall any singers who made their push in the industry using politics. I know that the Toby Keith/Dixie Chicks thing got pretty political at one point, but they were already well accomplished before that.

You might be on to something with this political distraction thing. Keep digging.

@ J. Alex:

"there's some nefarious and underhanded political influences being made (most likely by the right; just like how they attached Rep. Ford of Tennessee)."

I still say that Ford lost because he's a wannabe Republican who couldn't keep his base; which has nothing to do with some smear ad. But motive does have a lot to do with this.

*I'll start repenting immediately after I say the following*

We have a pretty (and a little uh...well...you know...uh...video vixen-ish) girl who can also sing. Why the hades would she be singing about a politician as the starting point for her career? If I heard an interview with her where she could articulate WHY she's supporting Obama as a politician (not just as a boy toy), I'd be more inclined to think that this isn't just some ploy to get attention.

I'm starting to think that this might very well be political sabotage.

Not related to the topic, but:

"The Simpsons are coming out with a movie? WTF?"

LOL! I was ready to protest to Matt Groening when I heard this. It's bad enough that he let my Simpsons jump the shark. Now he's giving them a burial at see with this movie.
