Two sides to Christ?

On the one hand, thank you "Pastor" Becky Fischer, for showing us the scary and vile side of Christianity.

On the other hand, thank you, Pastor Gregory Boyd for showing us the Christ side in Christianity.

I agree, greeny. We spend so much time focused on Muslim extremists that we turn a blind eye to these types of extremists. I mean, these are the kinds of kids who will be indoctrinated enough to blow up abortion clinics, commit hate crimes against minorities, and get presidents elected. Scary thought.

Sidebar: I assure you. I'm not one of those cats who solve complex mathematical algorithms on my time off. I'm restin' and relaxin'! Who knows, I might even take out a moment to think about you. So, what are you wearing...? *evil grin*

Have a blessed weekend. May God keep and sustain you!

Hey Andre,
I'm at a loss for words on this one. I had no idea the church was in such conflict over it's identity. There is definately a culture war brewing on several fronts and I couldn't be more concerned. I found it interesting (from my distant view of the church) how utterly opposite the directions were that those two pastors took. Why is it people always gravitate to the extremes on both ends? Is it any wonder there is so much conflict when no one is looking for a middle ground? With us? You have to hate Bush and everything he stands for. Or are you with the other side? You have to love Bush and everything he stands for. Reading things like that on both sides makes me want to crawl back in bed and give up on there ever being hope for mankind.
@Greeneyes;
Someone once told me the definition of a cult is, "That evil church down the block from mine." Just a thought for thinking on.

@ Greeny: Thanks for giving me something to dream about this weekend. *evil grin again*

I guess there is something to this cyberflirting after all. Two times the sensation, half the guilt...

Hope your weekend was well.

@ HC: I agree. It's unfortunate that we live in a society that has become so dichotomous to the point that we're exclusively FOR something or against it (one of big disadvantages to a two-party system. But, I'll write about that later).

I think it's interesting that one of the reasons I like Pastor Boyd is that he appears to be the closest thing to a middle-of-the-roader as I can see. As the article pointed out, he has MANY conservative viewpoints (i.e. with abortion, homosexuality, and the death penalty) but he doesn't integrate those into his daily walk. He's the type of person who would say "Yes. ____ is a sin in God's eyes. But love that ____er anyway. Give him respect. Don't use your faith and your bully pulpit to persecute that ___er." I give it up to John Kerry for having that exact same answer during the presidential debate when the issue of gay marriage arose.

That, to me, is about as middle of the road as you can get. That's why I'm encouraged and haven't completely lost hope on people who REALLY strive to be like Christ.

By the way, HC: your blog is down again. Oh well. I guess I've gotta get my daily reading somewhere else.

Then again, maybe I should get back to work...
