Momument to Pro-Life

For April Fool's Day, I had the perfect prank to play on you all. I was going to tell you that there was some sculpture out there depicting Britney Spears giving birth. I worked long and hard to come up with this gag. It was going to be an instant classic!

But, unfortunately for me, reality got a hold of this story first...

According to an article, sculptor Daniel Edwards recently unveiled his art (?), "Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston", a piece dedicated to highly publicized (and talent deficient) pop star and her newborn son. This art (again, ?) has been displayed at art studios in Connecticut and will be moved to an art gallery in New York next week. I guess that this art (for the last time, ?) is an affirmation of the Pro-Life ideology.

I wish that I could yell out "April Fool's!" at this point. But sadly, I can't...

Andre,
I haven't personally checked this out, but a fellow blogger friend I read had a post about this earlier in the week, and she quoted an article about this. The article reportedly said that besides all the just, "wrongness" about the whole incident and sculpture, Brittney Spears didn't even give birth like this, she had a Caeserean Section. Hmmmm...........

Hi Diane. How goes things in your part of the world?

I thought that, Britney's REAL birth methods aside, this sculpture was so noteworthy...for all the wrong reasons.

For one, it's hilarious. Forgive my language, but have you ever seen a woman give birth in the doggy position?

Two, does this EVEN look like Britney Spears? I was thinking of more of an Ashley Judd type.

Three, what's the deal with the bear skin? If you can figure that one out, I'll pay you top dollar...

Finally, I'm hoping that this piece doesn't become the spokespiece for Pro-Lifers. Wouldn't it be funny if they adopted this as their new universal symbol?

Thanx, as always, for stopping by!

I've got a theory: I think that this sculptor guy was really into Ashley Judd (yeah, I agree that it looks more like her than Brit). While he was shaping out some erotic, porn-like statues, his wife caught him. So, in an act of desperation he says, "No honey!" This work is to showcase the beauty of conception. As a model, I decided to use...uh...uh...uh..." At that moment, he heard a story on E! about Britney and blurted out "Britney Spears".

The rest, as they say, is history.

@ scurred: I agree. This one is confusing indeed.

@ natasha: You know. I think you might be on to something. If your theory is remotely true, then this guy is more sick that he is artistic. :)
